The aim of the Fusionworld project was to create a "Technological Wonderland" that showcased the research and development of technologies by Singapore-based R&DC A*Star to a global audience, positioning them as a cutting edge force in the field of technology.
The design solution created themed areas that integrated cutting edge future technologies with how we live our everyday lives in order to showcase their true value. The success of the design solution was mainly down to seamless integration of all of the showcased technologies with the environments they were designed to be used within. Each space utilised a "Lifestyle backdrop" where visitors could interact with virtual avatar characters as well as the technologies, from self cleaning glass to transport infrastructure solutions, experiencing directly how A*Star's work enhances our everyday lives.
The gallery also served as an educational platform to inspire passion for science and technology among the youth demographic in Singapore.Officially launched by Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Singapore's Minister of State for Trade and Industry, the opening of FusionWorld on 20 October 2008 at Fusionopolis drew more than 200 guests from the industry.
'Very interesting and vivid exposition of cutting edge technologies, a delight also for young people to inspire one to take R&D as a career' (FusionWorld Website)
