Project Details

Following the huge success of the Hong Kong Wetland Park project, MET was approached by the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust to collaborate once more on a masterplan for the East Kolkata Wetland Park. Our remit was to produce the architectural brief, main concept plan for the site, external interpretation points and visitor centre, business plan and revenue model, as well as operations and maintenance plan.

The result was a well received masterplan that promised an eco-friendly building as well as boardwalk and hide experience, with external interpretation points which would incorporate and nurture the local arts community.

All the structures were to be built of sustainable and locally produced natural products, with the visitor centre itself clad in Eucalyptus shingles from 80 trees currently on site that are not indigenous to the local area.
