MET
Studio were briefed to design an appropriate environment
in which to display the Museum’s collection
of striking and unusual minerals from all over the
globe. The design response is a calm and reflective
space that encourages visitors to sit and contemplate
the gallery at a more leisurely pace than other
galleries in the Museum. The focus is firmly on
the natural beauty of the exhibits. The interior
uses a palette of blues for the walls and floors
complementing natural woods and black granite. Lighting
is suspended low over the displays to add focus
and ultra-violet lamps enhance the natural colour
of the stones.
