Alex founded MET Studio in 1982 having previously worked for the renowned museum designer James Gardner, and remains a hands-on creative force in the company with responsibility for the overall management and creative direction of all projects across the MET Group.

MET Studio has grown internationally, defined by award-winning projects in Taiwan, Mexico, Hong Kong, China and Europe, with Alex at the helm. He sets the tone and vision for the company, and ensures that every step of the design process is interrogated from the brief through to project installation, ensuring that each job that leaves the office remains true to MET’s standard of excellence. He has personally presided over projects for museums, visitor attractions, international Expos, brands, NGO’s, government bodies and corporate clients.

Alongside his MET commitments, Alex travels widely, writing articles and giving speeches. He has been featured in many design books, acts as a judge on national and global design and architectural competitions, as well as being involved in the official design industry, “Creative Britain” think tank for the British Government. He is also an integral part of the joint UK/Mexico Creative Industries programme.

Tom oversees the day-to-day operations of the business, as well as providing the commercial viewpoint on MET’s diverse suite of projects. He also co-ordinates external relationships, client account management and business development at the firm.

Holding a BA in Politics and an LLB in Law, he brings commercial and business development expertise to MET. He previously worked as a Financial Services Consultant in the City of London, and was responsible for developing and managing various blue-chip clients.

Looking forward, he will be a key figure in defining MET’s strategy in the market and nurturing those relationships that will move the company forward.

Peter Karn

Peter has led a series of the company’s groundbreaking and innovative design concepts from inception to completion, maintaining a hands-on role in design projects.

He has a passion for innovation and a strong belief in collaboration. This philosophy has enabled Peter to build a talented and professional design team from a variety of disciplines, ensuring that all projects are practical, specific to the design brief and are truly world class. He understands that designs need to continually reflect the changing market place and he has the ability to truly listen to each client and their needs, and subsequently provide engaging interactive solutions.

Recently, Peter has led a series of award winning design solutions, including the design and creation of installations for the Institution of Engineering and Technology in Savoy Place, and ’War Horse’, a temporary exhibition about the real story of horses in conflict. Peter is also currently developing a new biodiversity museum in Mexico which aims to set a new paradigm in museum interpretation experiences.

As well as managing the company’s design team, Peter regularly speaks at various design seminars and educational institutions about MET Studio’s philosophies and the future of interpretational design.
